Director of Radiation Consulting & Services
Rad Pros is a nationally recognized environmental firm seeking a Director of Radiation
Consulting Services to support the consulting and field services team. This is an in-office,
full-time position (with benefits) at our company’s headquarters, six miles south of Watkins,
Colorado. This individual will be responsible for being our senior technical resource in the
radiation arena, independently working on projects, managing staff, writing radioactive
materials licenses, work and radiation protection programs, and other technical reports based
on state and federal regulations, site assessments, field sampling and surveys, and laboratory
data.
The ideal candidate will be sharp and technically savvy with an exceptional eye for detail, be
analytical, and have a solid foundation in health physics, radiochemistry, radioactive material
licenses, and rules/regulations. He/she should enjoy working on multiple projects and working
with clients, and understand and support the organizations objectives. Prior experience as a
Corporate RSO is a plus, however, candidates with other relevant experience will be
considered.
Key Responsibilities include:
Report Writing – Must have excellent report writing skills and be proficient with Word or
Google Docs. Proficiency in Excel and the ability to read and summarize lab results are
essential.
Data Management – The ability to review, retain/file, report, and summarize large datasets is
a big plus. Familiarity with standard deviations (confidence intervals), MCLs, LDLs, etc. is
essential. Experience with data management, identifying and revising reporting requirements,
as well as initiatives for data integrity and normalization are a plus.
Regulatory – This role will be responsible for maintaining and leading our company and
customer regulatory compliance efforts at all levels.
Client, Lab, and Regulatory Interface – Possesses sufficient interpersonal and
organizational skills to interface well with clients, waste facilities, laboratories, scientists, and
regulators to ensure that projects move forward. Excellent communication, integration, and
follow-up among the involved parties are essential.
Manage Multiple Priorities – Ability to juggle more than one project, integrating with and
holding team members accountable for excellence and timeliness in meeting or exceeding
customer expectations.
Templating Training – Ability to create reporting templates that can expedite and
economize the production of quality deliverables for future projects. An interest and passion
for in-office and customer-facing training programs associated with radioactive material is a
big plus.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Sciences, Health Physics, Environmental Sciences, or a related
field
5-10 years of experience with radioactive materials, preferably as an RSO.
Ability to understand client needs and communicate well with others.
High-level written and verbal communication skills.
Industry experience in oil gas, mining/rare earths, water treatment, nuclear,
manufacturing, laboratories/radiochemistry, or waste management is a plus.
Excellent typing and data management skills - typing speed of 50 wpm minimum.
Support additional administrative or financial tasks as needed.
Additional Requirements:
Proficiency in Excel, Google, and other Microsoft Office applications. AI aptitude a plus.
Strong organizational skills and ability to set and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with leadership and project staff.
Exceptional integrity and ability to handle multiple tasks and safeguard confidential
information required. Positive outlook and energy – a problem solver.
Process-oriented mindset with an interest in improving/simplifying systems and
workflows.
