Industrial Athletic Trainer

Are you passionate about injury prevention, employee wellness, and occupational health? Midwest Occupational Medicine (MWOM) is seeking an Industrial Athletic Trainer to join our team. This position works directly on-site with MWOM client organizations to evaluate workplace environments, identify injury risks, and implement strategies that promote employee health and safety.

The Industrial Athletic Trainer spends significant time in client work areas observing job tasks, assessing ergonomic risks, and recommending solutions to prevent workplace injuries. In addition to injury prevention efforts, this position responds to workplace injuries, evaluates employees within scope of practice, provides treatment as appropriate, and recommends the proper level of care when needed.

This is an hourly, non-exempt position in Hesston, KS, that reports directly to the Department Director.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct on-site workplace evaluations for MWOM client organizations.
• Observe employee work activities and identify potential ergonomic and safety concerns.
• Recommend and implement injury prevention strategies and ergonomic improvements.
• Educate employees and employers on injury prevention, body mechanics, and workplace safety practices.
• Respond to workplace injuries and provide assessment and treatment within scope of practice.
• Determine and recommend appropriate levels of care and referrals when necessary.
• Document evaluations, treatments, recommendations, and follow-up activities accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with employers, healthcare providers, and internal team members to support employee health and return-to-work efforts.
• Assist with wellness, injury prevention, and occupational health initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory, professional, and organizational standards.

Required QualificationsEducation

• Registered Nurses, Advanced EMT's, or Paramedics with current licensure, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training
  

Experience

• Experience in an occupational health, industrial, or workplace setting is preferred but not required.
• Experience evaluating musculoskeletal injuries and providing injury prevention education is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong understanding of injury prevention principles and ergonomics.
• Ability to assess workplace environments and identify risk factors for injury.
• Knowledge of musculoskeletal injury evaluation and treatment practices within scope of licensure.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively educate employees and employers on workplace health and safety practices.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently while building positive relationships with clients and team members.
• Proficiency with electronic documentation and standard computer applications.

Licensure, Registration, or Certification

• Board of Certification (BOC) Certification required.
• Current Athletic Trainer License in good standing with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Registered Nurse, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic licensure may be considered where applicable.
