Job Description
Position Summary
The Community Engagement Representative conducts face-to-face public outreach to provide accurate, fact-based information about Alaska’s commercial fishing industry and its role in local communities, food systems, and the state economy.
This is not a sales or political advocacy role. The position focuses on respectful conversations, listening, and public education in everyday community settings.
Representatives meet Alaskans where they already are — at their doors, community events, fairs, markets, and civic gatherings — answering questions and helping residents better understand a complex sector that affects their lives.
Success in this role is measured by quality interactions, professionalism, and trust built with the public, not by persuading people to hold a specific opinion.
