Un Mundo de Amigos Preschool serves over 100 children annually and provides high quality early childhood education to children living in traditionally underserved communities. Following the guidelines of the Reggio Emilia approach, we provide a safe learning environment for all children to reach their potential. Un Mundo de Amigos is committed to providing a world-class preschool education to children living in underserved areas within the City of Long Beach.
Position Summary
The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a warm, inclusive learning environment aligned with Un Mundo de Amigos’ philosophy, accreditation standards and state guidelines. This position takes lead in the classroom, modeling teaching practices, mentoring fellow educators and confidently delegating to keep the classroom running smoothly. The Lead Teacher observes milestones, documents growth and builds genuine, trusted partnerships with families through open communication and meaningful engagement.
Compensation & Benefits
The compensation for this position is $24.00 - $27.50. This position is also eligible for the following benefits:

- Plan, implement and assess developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with the school’s program philosophy, accreditation standards and state guidelines.
- Create a nurturing, inclusive and safe classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of all children.
- Lead and model best teaching practices for teachers and support staff, fostering a collaborative and respectful classroom culture.
- Assist with training new hires and assess training needs.
- Observe and document children’s progress using assessments and maintain accurate developmental records and portfolios.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with families to build strong partnerships, including conducting parent-teacher conferences and sharing resources.
- Support the implementation of school-wide initiatives, policies, and procedures, including licensing, health and safety requirements.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of classroom and school events, including family engagement activities and community celebrations.
- Assist with maintaining the classroom environment, including organizing materials, tracking supplies and upholding daily routines and schedules.
- Provide coverage for employee rest breaks and meal periods.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- A current Teacher Permit or higher, or eligibility for one.
- Bachelor's degree and/or 2 years of early childhood education experience required.
- Ability to work collaboratively and respond to the individual needs of children.
- Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Commitment to the mission of high-quality, inclusive early childhood education.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of parents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and timely.
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
- Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with parents, children and staff.
- Ability to build a collaborative team environment.
- Remain current on early childhood education trends.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
