Job Description
Nonprofit high-quality high-volume (HQHV) spay/neuter clinic is seeking a vet tech who is excited about making a difference in a fast-growing community drowning in homeless animals. Our goal is to find ways to remove barriers to spay/neuter.
Clinic opening date is Sept. 15, 2026.
Requirements include:
Handle and track controlled substances for large volumes of surgical patients.
Efficiently pre-medicate, induce, and intubate patients as necessary.
Able to monitor anesthesia, with a clear idea of abnormal conditions.
Train veterinary assistants, new staff members, and trainees to use patient care
protocols.
Must be able to use appropriate safety equipment for fractious or feral animals.
Must be able to work standing or sitting for 8 or more hours.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds repeatedly through day with help.
Must be able to bend and kneel repeatedly, have reasonable degree of agility,
and have good range of motion in joints and back.
Ability to work independently and as part of team.
Experience with high-volume spay/neuter is a plus.
Vet Tech license (3 years experience preferred) or commensurate experience.

PAALS, a 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit, consists of volunteers from Athens, Huntsville, Madison, and Decatur, all working together to tackle the issue of homeless animals in Limestone County and neighboring areas.
Partnership for Animals in Athens/Limestone (PAALS) will promote the health, safety and well-being of dogs and cats in Limestone County and surrounding areas, focusing on low-cost spay/neuter, homeless animals, and innovative outreach programs.
