Job Summary:
The Service Marine Carpenter is responsible for executing a broad range of carpentry tasks on both new and existing vessels. This role requires expertise in marine carpentry techniques, including structural repairs, joinery, cabinetry, and installation of custom woodwork. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of marine-grade materials, fasteners, adhesives, and finishing techniques to ensure durability and high-quality craftsmanship in every project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Repair, replace, and install structural woodwork, ensuring a high standard of craftsmanship.
- Construct and install floors, doors, partitions, paneling, boxes, rails, and trim using hand and power tools.
- Perform detailed joinery work, including the fabrication and fitting of bulkheads, ceilings, furniture, cabinets, trims, handrails, and cap rails.
- Install prefabricated or custom components such as hatches, marine hardware, metal trim, and other yacht-specific elements.
- Work on a variety of service projects, ranging from individual part replacements to full interior and exterior refits.
- Read and interpret blueprints, renderings, and technical drawings to ensure precise execution of designs.
- Utilize marine-grade materials and adhesives for long-lasting results.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in carpentry or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of marine or woodworking carpentry experience.

Skills:
- Proficient in selecting and working with marine-grade materials.
- Strong understanding of woodworking joints, including scarf, lap, finger, dovetail, mortise, miter, box, and bridle joints.
- Expertise in measuring, cutting, and assembling components using advanced layout techniques
- Ability to interpret and execute plans, blueprints, and concept renderings with precision.
- Knowledge of marine components, including stairs, partitions, doors, trim, hardware, cabinetry, teak decking, cap rails, and flooring.
- Skilled in applying epoxy, vinyl ester resins, adhesives, bonding agents, and finishes.
- Comfortable working with both traditional and modern woodworking tools and machinery.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed in a marine and industrial environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying weather conditions.
- May involve working in confined spaces, at heights, or in awkward positions.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Requires the use of hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work may be necessary.
