Our organization is in search of a Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatobiliary in Oceanside, NY!

The Gastroenterology Division at our facility comprises ten physician faculty members, specializing in various areas such as general GI, advanced interventional techniques, mobility, IBD, and hepatology. Additionally, full-time GI faculty are present at our affiliated practices throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties, alongside numerous voluntary GI physicians closely linked to our endoscopic services. Our hospital boasts a comprehensive array of specialized high-tech interventions (including POEMS and EUS) within a bustling endoscopy unit, and we conduct complex hepatobiliary procedures. We also feature an IBD center, a Mobility Center, and two newly established, state-of-the-art outpatient ambulatory pavilions. The Division is home to eight GI fellows (six regular and two advanced interventional fellows) and collaborates closely with the Internal Medicine and General Surgery residency programs, as well as our colorectal surgeons. Furthermore, we maintain a strong partnership with the prestigious main NYC academic program, contributing significantly to academic publications annually. The chosen candidate will be responsible for advancing clinical services, overseeing administrative functions, and managing quality and safety performance metrics, all while aiding in the expansion of our growing Division. Eligibility for a faculty appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Our facility is one of eight hospitals within the health system and serves as the flagship hospital for Long Island, conveniently located about 30 minutes from New York City. The Department of Medicine is actively expanding across various inpatient and outpatient settings, including a brand new 60,000 square foot facility in Wantagh. We have 24/7 intensivists in two state-of-the-art ICUs with 20 beds each, a newly constructed 50-bay Emergency Department, nine new operating rooms with enhanced cardiac and neurosurgical capabilities, and much more.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate for this role is a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist with a minimum of five years of experience and a proven commitment to managing a large and expanding GI service. The Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatobiliary will be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine, as appropriate. This position will be supported in accordance with ACGME recommendations, with the expectation that the selected individual will also continue to engage in clinical practice within gastroenterology.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid New York Medical License
  • Board Certification in Gastroenterology

Compensation ranges from $550,000 to $650,000 (excluding bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits).
