Job Description

Our organization in Athens, GA, is excited to invite Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologists to become part of a developing, hospital-affiliated gastroenterology program. This recruitment initiative aims to expand the team to four physicians in response to a significant demand from the community and a strong internal referral network.

The practice provides immediate clinical opportunities, robust administrative backing, and a long-term strategic plan that includes facility expansion and future development of an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). We welcome applications from both general gastroenterologists and those with advanced endoscopy training.

Position Highlights:
  • Hospital-employed role for general or advanced gastroenterology
  • Join a highly productive GI physician who is eager to mentor, along with one senior Advanced Practice Provider (APP); a second APP is anticipated
  • Strong internal referral network with no concerns regarding patient volume for new physicians
  • Over 2,500 referrals annually, with two rural facilities contributing to the Athens referrals
  • At least one advanced GI specialist is preferred, with an expectation of some general GI work initially as advanced volume increases
  • All procedures are currently conducted at the hospital-based endoscopy center
Schedule & Workflow:
  • Call is currently limited to no more than 1:5, with improvements expected as the group expands
  • Target model is moving towards a 4:1 endoscopy-to-clinic ratio
  • Aiming to maximize physician time spent in endoscopy
Culture & Mentorship:
  • Collegial and supportive work environment
  • The current physician serves as a strong mentor, making this position particularly appealing for fellows and early-career professionals
  • Highly engaged hospital leadership and administration
Compensation & Benefits Overview:
  • Base salary range starting at $600,000+, with potential for higher compensation for high-volume or experienced candidates
  • Sign-on and relocation package, divided between signing and start date
  • wRVU-based incentive structure:
  • Upside-only model
Comprehensive Benefits Include:
  • Medical malpractice coverage with tail coverage
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 403(b) and 457 retirement plans
  • Eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)
  • Full support for Georgia licensure, credentialing, and hospital privileges
  • Visa sponsorship considered on a case-by-case basis
