About the Department of Pediatrics
In an exciting phase of growth, we are expanding our Pediatric services, which includes enhancing our inpatient capabilities and developing all Pediatric subspecialties. Our Pediatric Department operates across multiple locations, including West Bloomfield Hospital, Macomb Hospital, and Henry Ford Hospital. Following a recent merger with Ascension South East Michigan, we now have an expanded pediatric presence, including Henry Ford St John’s Children’s Hospital. Our flagship campus is undergoing a significant $3 billion investment, known as ‘Destination Grand’, which includes the development of a new academic medical center in collaboration with Shirley Ryan Ability Lab to establish a state-of-the-art inpatient rehabilitation hospital.
Our Pediatric services are supported by a robust primary care network, with ongoing efforts to enhance both new and existing specialty care options. Our team consists of over 250 physicians and providers, including primary care specialists and advanced practice providers, supported by more than 150 staff members. Clinical services are delivered at over 40 sites, including 9 hospitals and more than 12 advanced ambulatory centers. Our facilities provide Level 2 and Level 3 NICU care, backed by a strong team of neonatologists and a dedicated hospitalist group. Henry Ford St John’s Children’s Hospital features an excellent Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and specialized Pediatric Emergency Department services, along with various medical and surgical subspecialties.
We collaborate with Michigan State University and Wayne State University to host medical students and residents, contributing to academic development and research. Our Pediatric Residency Program accommodates 27 residents at Henry Ford St John’s Hospital.
The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology plays a crucial role within our organization, featuring centers of excellence in areas such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Nutrition, Celiac Disease, Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic disorders, Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE), Food Allergy, Neurogastroenterology, and Advanced Feeding. We benefit from strong support in Adult Gastroenterology and Hepatology/Transplant, with ongoing development of multidisciplinary clinical and research collaborations. General endoscopic procedures are performed in fully equipped suites, with opportunities for advanced procedures as well.
Qualifications
We are looking for dynamic and innovative individuals eager to contribute to the development of foundational Pediatric services for children in Michigan. This is a remarkable opportunity to lead the establishment of centers of excellence while driving both academic and clinical growth. As part of our expansion, numerous leadership roles will be available within the Department of Pediatrics and the broader organization. Clinical duties will encompass both outpatient and inpatient care, consultative services, and general GI procedures. The selected candidate will be expected to lead and mentor medical students and residents, demonstrating proficiency in general pediatric gastrointestinal procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- M.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O. degree, or equivalent
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology
- Licensure by the Michigan Medical Board
- Board Certification by the American Board of Pediatrics, with subspecialty certification in pediatric gastroenterology (or eligibility for certification)
