Our organization is seeking a Chief of Radiology who will also hold a dual academic position with a local health science center. This role reports directly to the Chief of Staff and is tasked with overseeing the administration, management, and leadership of the entire Diagnostic Imaging Department. Additionally, this position may serve as an extension of the Chief of Staff during their absence.

The medical center features a primary campus along with ten community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). It operates as a 1a complexity tertiary care VA healthcare system situated in one of the fastest-growing regions for Veterans in the United States. The facility delivers comprehensive services to over 47,000 Veterans across a 52-county area that includes Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, Eastern Arkansas, and parts of Missouri and Kentucky. The center is equipped with 236 inpatient beds, including a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit, and functions as a teaching hospital, offering a full spectrum of patient care services, cutting-edge technology, and extensive educational and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

The Chief of Radiology will oversee a wide range of clinical services, which includes inpatient consultations, outpatient clinic management, and the overall administration of the Diagnostic Imaging Service. This role also involves supervising other medical staff, providers, and trainees assigned to Diagnostic Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiation Oncology. The Chief will offer services and technical guidance as needed, fostering the professional growth of the staff through coaching, mentoring, and educational opportunities. Furthermore, the Chief will engage in high-level decision-making and policy development that influences patient care, collaborating with medical center administration, other Service Chiefs, and interdepartmental supervisors, while delegating authority and responsibilities to address both patient care needs and organizational objectives.

Position Highlights:

  • Salary Based on Experience: $325,000 - $400,000
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 4:30 PM
  • CME Reimbursement: Up to $2,000 annually (Board Certification required)

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Eligible/Certified in Diagnostic Radiology
  • Eligibility for a Faculty Appointment at the local health science center
  • Preferred: Three years of leadership experience
  • Full and unrestricted medical license from any state
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English
