Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic leader to spearhead the strategic advancement of our Diabetes Center of Excellence. This role emphasizes innovation, teamwork, and achieving significant outcomes. The ideal candidate will bring clinical expertise in Endocrinology within a multidisciplinary care framework.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide teaching, mentorship, and a conducive research environment for medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees.
  • Collaborate with leaders in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, podiatry, and other health disciplines to create integrated, team-oriented care models focused on the prevention, education, and treatment of diabetes and its complications.
  • Advocate for tailored access to care that meets the unique needs of the Rio Grande Valley community.
  • Engage in and promote value-based care initiatives and population health programs aimed at improving diabetes management and outcomes.
  • Work alongside operational leadership to establish quality metrics, clinical pathways, and manage data dashboards to ensure superior clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and compliance with ADA care standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement and accreditation activities.
  • Attend and contribute to institutional committee meetings as required.
  • Fulfill assigned administrative responsibilities.
  • Present at teaching and continuing education conferences, utilizing visual aids for lectures directed at medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees.
  • Support faculty development initiatives related to diabetes prevention and management.
Research and Scholarly Activities
  • Actively participate in clinical research and scholarly endeavors to enrich the academic atmosphere.
  • Establish and sustain independent clinical research programs, which may involve training research support staff in protocol execution.
  • Collaborate with fellow researchers and authors to produce manuscripts detailing scientific advancements for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Identify and secure funding opportunities to support clinical research, including the preparation of grant proposals, applications, and budget analysis.
Clinical Program Development
  • Oversee the design and expansion of clinical programs, including population health initiatives, coordination of care for high-risk patients, digital health integration, and chronic care management services.
  • Establish and maintain a clinical endocrinology practice within our organization.
  • Review, assess, and interpret medical records, physical examinations, and other pertinent patient data, demonstrating proficiency in patient history-taking and examination.
  • Translate essential clinical and diagnostic findings into effective treatment recommendations in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Ensure the implementation of quality control standards and maintain ongoing quality assurance measures.
  • Exhibit self-motivation, conscientiousness, and effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, while fostering positive relationships with peers and administrative personnel.
