Job Description
Our organization is seeking applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure clinical track faculty role within the academic health center.
The chosen candidate will play a vital role in advancing the department's mission, which focuses on enhancing healthcare quality through exceptional education for students, physicians, and the community; promoting biomedical knowledge via research, integration, and application in clinical settings; and delivering comprehensive, compassionate, and accessible patient care.
Key Responsibilities:The faculty member in the Division of Infectious Diseases will primarily engage in inpatient infectious diseases consultations and outpatient clinics at our partner hospitals. Responsibilities will include teaching medical students, internal medicine residents, and/or infectious diseases fellows. While the focus will be on general infectious diseases, there will also be opportunities to work with transplant and surgical infectious diseases services. Depending on qualifications and experience, there may be opportunities for clinical or basic research.
Fostering an environment in patient care units that encourages excellence and innovation in clinical practice by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and standards that lead to positive patient outcomes, including favorable risk-adjusted results.
Offering coaching, mentoring, and support to clinical managers, attending physicians, research staff, colleagues, and clinical personnel.
Exemplifying professional behavior and leadership qualities, along with problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
Delegating authority and accountability to clinical and nursing staff for patient care decisions that align with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
Identifying the needs of patients and families within the served populations; proposing and/or developing new programs and services to address those needs; ensuring that age-appropriate equipment, supplies, and educational resources are available for assigned units/services.
Collaborating with hospital administration and physicians to pinpoint future opportunities and shape the direction of departmental services; developing and executing plans to meet identified goals, including productivity and patient throughput targets across the care continuum.
Maintaining an active departmental Quality Improvement Plan that aligns with the organizational Quality Management Plan; creating and implementing unit-specific standards, policies, and procedures that guide care provision; continuously assessing and enhancing departmental performance while improving service quality.
Participating in and/or leading committees, work groups, and meetings as necessary.
Ensuring that interdisciplinary performance improvement programs are active and ongoing, and following up to confirm that complaints have been addressed satisfactorily. Collaborating to maintain a focus on delivering excellent clinical services.
Engaging in professional growth through seminars, workshops, in-services, current literature, and professional affiliations to stay updated on the latest trends in the field; supporting and promoting education and research initiatives.
Overseeing a specialized clinical team of direct care providers and administrative staff.
MD degree
Possession of a Texas Medical License or eligibility for a Texas Faculty Temporary License
Board certification in Internal Medicine and board certification or eligibility in Infectious Diseases, with a minimum of two years of fellowship training in infectious diseases
