Physician - Geriatrician

Our organization is in search of a full-time physician who is either board-certified or board-eligible in internal medicine. While additional training in geriatrics, hospital medicine, or transitional care is advantageous, it is not mandatory. The selected candidate will serve as the attending physician at the Community Living Center (CLC), which is our skilled nursing facility located in Brockton, Massachusetts.
Responsibilities at the CLC will involve a combination of direct patient care and the supervision of geriatrics fellows, house staff, and other trainees. Work hours are primarily during weekdays, with some weekend phone coverage required. There will be no overnight hospital duties.
This position offers a variety of teaching opportunities and encourages participation in quality improvement initiatives. Time will be allocated for scholarly pursuits, along with a commitment to support the physician's career development and mentorship.
RequirementsMust be a U.S. citizen.
Proficiency in both written and spoken English is essential.
A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a program recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs is required.
A current, unrestricted medical or surgical license from any U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth, including the District of Columbia, is necessary.

Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs is required for board certification eligibility. Note: VA physicians involved in academic training may need to be board certified for faculty status. Approved residencies include:
- Those accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME),
- Those accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or
- Other residencies (non-U.S. training followed by at least five years of verified practice in the U.S.) deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.
Residents currently in ACGME/AOA accredited programs who meet the basic appointment criteria may be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs). PRPs must hold a full medical license (not a training license) and can only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. They are not considered independent practitioners and will have a limited scope of practice under supervision. Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs.
Additional Requirement: Board certification in internal medicine and geriatrics.
Preferred Experience: Training in geriatrics, hospital medicine, or transitional care.
