Overview of the Neurologist Position:The Neurologist will deliver comprehensive neurological care to veterans, ensuring seamless service within a collaborative healthcare team. This position reports to the Chief of Medicine and plays a vital role in the medical center's clinical operations.
The selected candidate will assess and manage both new and returning patients with neurological issues. Key duties include conducting neurological evaluations, consultations, and follow-up care for both inpatient and outpatient settings. Additionally, the provider will engage in multidisciplinary team meetings, quality improvement projects, and educational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:Veteran-Centered Care:Provide thorough neurological services focusing on health maintenance, disease prevention, patient education, and management of neurological disorders.
Encourage shared decision-making with veterans and their families to achieve the best health outcomes.
Conduct neurological assessments and create personalized treatment plans for a variety of neurological conditions.
Oversee preoperative and postoperative care for neurology patients.
Manage outpatient neurology clinics and offer inpatient consultations as required.
Engage in ongoing quality improvement initiatives to enhance care delivery.
Employ various quality measurement tools to assess and enhance clinical performance and patient outcomes.
Act as a mentor and role model for fellow healthcare providers within the neurology team.
Participate in educational activities, offering guidance and support to residents, students, and other trainees.
Facilitate care coordination for veterans, integrating specialty care, mental health services, and other ancillary services to ensure comprehensive healthcare delivery.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop tailored treatment plans for veterans.
Leverage the electronic medical record system for documentation, test ordering, and communication with patients and team members.
