Fort Cavazos is situated in the picturesque 'hill and lake' region of Central Texas, nestled between Killeen and Copperas Cove. It is approximately 60 miles north of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio.
Established in 1942, this military installation spans 340 square miles and serves as the Army's premier site for training and deploying heavy forces.
Covering 214,968 acres, Fort Cavazos is the largest active-duty armored post in the U.S. Armed Forces and the only installation capable of stationing and training two Armored Divisions.

Responsibilities- Provide leadership and technical guidance to the staff at the MEB Outpatient Clinic.
- Conduct thorough reviews of medical records, interpret diagnostic tests and x-rays, and utilize sound clinical judgment to arrange for additional medical specialty consultations.
- Compose detailed narrative summaries incorporating consultant insights and opinions as necessary.
- Evaluate community and patient population needs, mission requirements, and available resources to plan and deliver a comprehensive range of outpatient and inpatient services.
- Collaborate with other physicians (such as family practitioners and general psychiatrists) to assess and reconcile conflicting medical evidence in challenging and complex cases.
OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED AS NEEDED.
Conditions of Employment- Appointment may require a suitability or fitness assessment based on a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is mandatory.
- Selected candidates may need to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or provide a recognized exemption.
- This role is classified as a Testing Designated Position, subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Candidates will need to consent to random drug urinalysis.
- A pre-placement medical examination may be necessary.
- Immunization screening may be required, including Hepatitis B for all positions involving direct patient contact. Proof of other immunizations may also be required based on the specific role.
- Maintaining current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association may be necessary. Advanced certifications (e.g., ALS) do not replace BLS.
- A valid stateside driver's license may be required.
- Candidates must meet credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain relevant clinical privileges.
- This position may necessitate tuberculosis testing.

Basic Requirements for Supervisory Physician (Medical Evaluation Board):
Degree: A Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from an accredited institution in the United States or Canada. This degree must be recognized by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or another accrediting body acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education at the time of graduation. A foreign medical degree must demonstrate equivalency to accredited U.S. schools, evidenced by permanent certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for U.S. premedical education followed by foreign graduate education, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
Licensure: Candidates must hold a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
Graduate Training: Following the attainment of a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, candidates must have at least one year of supervised clinical experience, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an accredited hospital or institution.
In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must also meet the following qualifications:
Experience/Training: A minimum of five years of graduate training in the relevant specialty or equivalent experience and training is required.
If selected for a Physician position: A salary quote will not be provided at the initial job offer. The salary determination process will commence after the acceptance of the initial offer, involving the Activity Compensation Panel to establish base and market pay for your starting salary, which will be communicated once approved.
Physician salaries are tiered based on specialty, grade, and location. This announcement may be utilized to fill positions across the following tiers:
- Tier 1: $121,020 - $300,000
- Tier 2: $145,000 - $320,000
- Tier 3: $165,000 - $336,000
