Become a part of our team at the Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Livermore, CA as a Physician specializing in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation!
The Staff Physician in PM&R will oversee and provide medical and rehabilitative services in both outpatient and inpatient settings, particularly within the Polytrauma-related programs, including the Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center (PRC), Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center (CRC), and the Polytrauma Transitional Rehabilitation Program (PTRP) at the VA Palo Alto Health Care facility.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Delivering medical and rehabilitation services to veterans and active-duty members through clinical assessments and treatments in inpatient Polytrauma programs.
Coordinating medical care and rehabilitation efforts for veterans and active-duty personnel within the Polytrauma System of Care, with a primary focus on the PRC, CRC, and PTRP, while also providing outpatient PM&R clinic coverage as necessary.
Ensuring that treatment plans for patients are clinically appropriate, facilitating timely transitions to other care levels, and documenting any contraindications and precautions.
Supervising and training PM&R residents in relevant clinical practices related to PM&R and Polytrauma.
Conducting daily rounds with PM&R residents, nursing staff, and other interdisciplinary team members, maintaining daily communication and interaction as required.
Collaborating with various services to guarantee timely consultations and coordinated care.
Identifying training and educational needs for the clinical staff and providing necessary education and training.
Assisting in the processing of patient referrals into inpatient Polytrauma programs within 48 hours of receipt.
Engaging in telehealth communications between PRC, CRC, PTRP, and relevant military treatment facilities or other referral sources as needed.
Facilitating 24/7 rehabilitation physician coverage in the clinic.
Ensuring that care delivery adheres to the "Organization Code of Ethics" for the VA.
Participating in performance improvement initiatives for PM&R, WBRC, and PSC/PNS, including TJC and GARF recertification.
Demonstrating the application of essential knowledge and skills in the assessment, treatment, evaluation, and ongoing care for various age groups, considering their physical, psychological, social, cognitive, pharmacological, and nutritional needs based on established growth and developmental principles.
Benefits and Features
Expected Salary Range: Between $240,000 and $270,000 (negotiable based on qualifications, credentials, and experience).
Compensation: Competitive salary, annual performance bonuses, and regular salary increases.
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off annually, including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and potentially 5 days for CME.
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and a federal 401K with contributions up to 5% from the organization.

Licensure: One full and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and minimal restrictions on moonlighting.
