Job Description
Job Opportunity: Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist

Our organization is currently looking for a full-time, board-eligible or certified pediatric hematologist/oncologist to become a part of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Section within the Division of Hematology/Oncology and BMT. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a passion for diagnosing and treating hematologic malignancies and are eager to engage in the design and execution of early-phase clinical trials.

The responsibilities of this role encompass both inpatient and outpatient clinical care at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD), along with teaching duties and involvement in clinical and translational research.

About the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders

The CCBD treats approximately 400 new oncology patients annually, with over 140 of these being diagnosed with hematologic malignancies. Our center also runs active clinical and research programs in various areas, including solid tumors, neuro-oncology, hematology, BMT/Cell Therapy, palliative care, and survivorship. We are proud members of several national and international trial consortia, such as COG, POETIC, TACL, the Histiocyte Society, and NACHO, and we offer phase I and II industry-sponsored studies as well as investigator-initiated trials.

Our ACGME-accredited pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship program accommodates three fellows each year. We maintain a close collaborative relationship with our BMT & Cell Therapy program, which provides essential services for patients requiring life-saving hematopoietic stem cell transplants and cellular therapies, including CAR-T cell treatment.

Collaboration and Academic Opportunities

Faculty members can take advantage of exceptional clinical and research collaborations with our three academic partners: the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Creighton University, and the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. Ideal candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to mentoring learners and contributing to program development, while also being academically productive. Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Pediatrics in the subspecialty of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is required. Academic rank and compensation will be aligned with experience.

Working Environment

Our center sees around 400 new oncology patients each year and has ongoing clinical and laboratory research initiatives in oncology, neuro-oncology, survivorship, hemophilia, and phase I/II investigational drug development. The ACGME-approved fellowship program in pediatric hematology/oncology is designed for three fellows annually and has affiliations with the Mayo Clinic, the Arizona Cancer Center, and the University of Arizona. Additionally, the BMT program offers a one-year subspecialty fellowship in bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy.

As the only freestanding children's hospital in Arizona, we provide a dedicated wing featuring 16 HEPA-filtered, positive pressure rooms for patients with compromised immune systems. Our institution serves as a comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care center and acts as a primary pediatric teaching facility for learners from the University of Arizona, Mayo Clinic Arizona, and Creighton University, offering residency and fellowship programs across multiple specialties.

We are an equal opportunity employer, providing a competitive salary and benefits package in an environment that fosters individual and professional growth. Academic appointments are facilitated through our partnerships with Mayo Clinic Arizona and the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Phoenix.

The staff physician will deliver patient care services and uphold our mission of providing hope, healing, and the highest quality healthcare for children and their families.
