Our organization, in collaboration with a prominent medical school, is on the lookout for a distinguished Associate Professor of Surgery to take on the role of Section Chief of Transplant Surgery. This position is pivotal in leading and enhancing a comprehensive abdominal organ transplant program.

This leadership role presents an exciting opportunity to develop a high-impact transplant service within an academic medical environment, providing advanced, multidisciplinary care in partnership with a leading university hospital. The individual will serve as a Transplant Surgeon while also fulfilling the responsibilities of Section Chief, focusing on clinical excellence, innovation, and the growth of the program.

Position Overview

The Section Chief of Transplant Surgery will be responsible for providing both strategic and clinical leadership for the transplant program. This includes overseeing all facets of patient care, operational management, and academic progress. The selected physician will be instrumental in expanding transplant services, improving quality outcomes, and nurturing a collaborative, multidisciplinary atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and expand the abdominal organ transplant program, ensuring high standards of clinical excellence and program development.

  • Deliver comprehensive surgical care, which encompasses organ procurement, transplantation, and post-operative management.

  • Manage transplant operations, including patient evaluations, waitlist oversight, and donor coordination.

  • Participate in on-call duties and conduct daily rounds for transplant patients.

  • Initiate quality improvement projects and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes throughout the care continuum.

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop faculty while supporting residency and fellowship training programs.

Academic Responsibilities
  • Act as an attending physician at the affiliated medical school and university hospital.

  • Educate and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows through clinical rounds, Grand Rounds, and various conferences.

  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and presentations.

  • Participate in community education initiatives and academic programming.

Candidate Requirements
  • Board-certified in Surgery with specialized fellowship training in Transplant Surgery.

  • Eligible for licensure in New Jersey.

  • Proven leadership experience in the development of transplant programs and clinical operations.

  • Strong dedication to academic medicine, education, and research.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary academic setting.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected minimum salary for this position is $797,046.

The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, expertise, and available funding, taking into account market benchmarks and internal equity.
