Estate Planning Legal Assistant
Job Description
We're looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and experienced estate planning assistant / paralegal to play an important role on our legal team. You'll draft legal documents such as wills, trusts, deeds, and powers of attorney, conduct research, and keep case files and other important information neatly organized and easily accessible. Must have estate planning, probate, or guardianship experience in Florida, have the ability to work in our Jacksonville office.
Compensation:$50,000 - $65,000 yearly
Responsibilities:
- Assist lawyers in preparing legal documentation, pleadings, and correspondence including correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits
- Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls and keeping our case filing system organized so all documents are readily accessible
- Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews
- Aid lawyers in the preparation and execution of estate planning documents, probate cases, and guardianship cases
- Prepare and File Deeds
- Review bank statements for Guardianship and Probate accountings
- Talk with clients to gather information about their legal issues
- Take Care of administrative tasks such as answering phones and maintaining our computerized case management system
- Follow up on leads and client inquiries
- Prepare legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings for estate planning, probate, and guardianship cases
Qualifications:
- Talented communicator and writer
- Candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have advanced paralegal education will receive preference
- Excellent organizational skills, and time-management skills
- At least 3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting
- ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree desired
- Must have significant law office experience with Estate Planning, Probate, or Guardianship
