Plant Utilities & Maintenance Mechanic — Direct Hire (Grand Rapids, MI)

What You’ll Tackle
  • Perform electro-mechanical maintenance to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pumps, HVAC units, boilers, chillers, and production machinery.
  • Own preventive maintenance via a CMMS to reduce downtime.
  • Assist with installing and supporting new assets within your skill range.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
  • Prioritize safety at every step, including lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Operate forklifts and lifts when needed.
Must-Have Experience
  • 5+ years in maintenance with strong mechanical capability.
  • 3+ years of electrical experience.
  • Hands-on work with pumps and industrial systems.
  • Familiarity with CMMS-driven preventive maintenance.
  • Team-focused attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn.
Bonus Capabilities
  • Pipefitting, machining, or metal fabrication.
  • Knowledge of boilers, chillers, compressors, and process controls.
  • Reading/troubleshooting electrical schematics and pneumatic systems.
  • Refrigeration certification.
Schedule & Training
  • 3rd Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
  • 2-2-3 rotating schedule with built-in overtime
  • Training on 1st shift for approximately 4–6 months
Work Setting
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. alone (100+ lbs. with assistance).
  • Comfortable at heights, on ladders, and around industrial equipment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing.
  • Industrial environment with required PPE and strict safety standards.
