Position: Tax Manager - Trust & Estate Focused
In office Requirement: 2-3 days a week - potentially less
Location: Irvine, CA
Requirements: 5+ years in public accounting - Strong Trust & Estate exp.
Base Salary: $120,000-$170,000 a year
We are a midsize CPA firm Orange County with about 80 employees and growing. We are a full service firm that offers tax, accounting, audit, business consulting, wealth management, and fiduciary consulting services. We have a hybrid to loose remote model and are growing into a top regional firm in the So Cal area. We pride ourselves with providing a strong work life balance both in and outside of busy seasons. We are looking for experienced tax managers that have had an extensive background in gift, trust, and estate tax. This role will be focused on clients with trust and estate returns along with there individual and business taxes.
What you need- 5+ Years of Public Accounting
- Expert in Trust & Estate Taxation
- Active CPA or JD/LLM
- Strong knowledge of federal and state fiduciary income tax, estate tax, and gift tax
- Strong HNWI, Partnership, s-corp experience also
- Proficiency with tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess, GoSystem, or similar)
- Familiarity with estate planning strategies and wealth transfer techniques
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines
- Serve as the primary point of contact for high-net-worth individuals, families, and fiduciaries
- Build and maintain trusted client relationships
- Review and prepare complex trust, estate, and gift tax returns (Forms 1041, 706, 709)
- Review and prepare indiviudal and pass-through returns (Forms 1040, 1065, 1120s, 1120)
- Advise clients on estate planning, charitable giving, and wealth transfer strategies
- Research and interpret tax laws and regulations related to trusts and estates
- Provide guidance on tax implications of estate administration and fiduciary responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor junior staff and seniors
- Review workpapers and ensure quality control across engagements
