Job Description
GERIATRICIAN - HOSPITALIST ROLE

Join our organization for a rewarding opportunity!

Student loan assistance and recruitment incentives available

Our organization is in search of a full-time physician who is board-certified or board-eligible in internal medicine. While additional training in geriatrics, hospital medicine, or transitional care is advantageous, it is not mandatory. The selected candidate will serve as the attending physician at our Community Living Center (CLC), a skilled nursing facility located in Brockton, Massachusetts.

In this role, responsibilities will encompass a combination of direct patient care and the supervision of geriatrics fellows, house staff, and other trainees. Work hours at the CLC are primarily during weekdays, with some weekend phone-only coverage required. There will be no overnight in-hospital duties.

This position offers a variety of teaching opportunities and encourages participation in quality improvement initiatives. Time will be allocated for scholarly pursuits, along with a commitment to support the physician's career development and mentorship.

Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English is essential.

  • A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

  • A current, unrestricted medical or surgical license to practice in any U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth, including the District of Columbia.

  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, leading to eligibility for board certification. (Note: VA physicians involved in academic training may need to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residency programs include:

    • Programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME),
    • Programs accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or
    • Other residency programs (non-U.S.) followed by at least five years of verified practice in the U.S., deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.

Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs who meet the basic appointment criteria may be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs). PRPs must hold a full medical license (not a training license) and can only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. They are not considered independent practitioners and will have a limited scope of practice under supervision. Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also qualify as PRPs.

Additional Requirement: Board certification in internal medicine and geriatrics.
Preferred Experience: Training in geriatrics, hospital medicine, or transitional care.
