Medical Director of the Stroke Program
Job Description
Our organization, in collaboration with a prominent healthcare facility serving the culturally rich communities of Queens, New York, is looking for a dedicated Medical Director for the Advanced Primary Stroke Program. This full-time leadership position requires expertise in both General Neurology and Stroke, as the facility is recognized as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading ongoing initiatives within the Stroke Program and ensuring the facility maintains its Stroke Center Certification status.
- Overseeing the Advanced Primary Stroke Center, directing systems and programs that enhance evidence-based stroke care.
- Driving program development to uphold accreditation from The Joint Commission (TJC) as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center.
- Coordinating the stroke care team, facilitating effective communication among medical staff, nursing, quality assurance, and other relevant departments.
- Serving as a resource for regulatory compliance, making recommendations, and maintaining necessary documentation.
- Providing direct inpatient consultations and outpatient care, while also supervising and teaching advanced practice providers, residents, and medical students.
- Advocating for patients and their families by creating policies and services that uphold patient rights and enhance care environments, focusing on customer satisfaction.
- Assisting in the coordination of the tele-stroke program and managing transfers to other facilities when necessary.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A medical degree from an accredited institution.
- A valid New York State medical license, along with a DEA and Medicaid number.
- Board certification in General Neurology, having completed a residency in an ACGME-accredited Neurology program.
- Completion of a fellowship in vascular neurology is preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- A strong commitment to teamwork and a patient-centered approach within the healthcare system.
- The ability to foster supportive relationships with diverse groups, including nursing and physician colleagues, hospital administration, and external agencies.
