Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist

Our organization is on the lookout for a Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist to join us at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The ideal candidate will possess robust clinical expertise. Key responsibilities will involve providing inpatient consultations at both the Main and University of Kansas campuses, as well as conducting outpatient appointments in our Infectious Diseases Clinic. A keen interest in infection prevention and control is highly desirable. We also encourage involvement in academic pursuits, including clinical or bench research and quality improvement initiatives.

The current team within our Division comprises 14 faculty members specializing in Infectious Diseases, alongside 2 postdoctoral fellows enrolled in our accredited Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship program. Additionally, our team includes 4 nurse practitioners, 2 PharmD professionals, and a PhD holder. We are supported by seven research coordinators dedicated to our clinical research efforts. Our Division enjoys a strong collaborative partnership with the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory and its Director, as well as with the Missouri chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). We also benefit from grant funding provided by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), along with ongoing support from various external foundations and Biopharma entities.

Our faculty, fellows, and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) collectively manage around 1,700 outpatient visits each year, which includes services at the International Adoption, Special Immunology, Allergy de-labeling, and Travel Medicine Clinics. We also handle over 1,500 new inpatient consultations annually, with approximately 300 of these on the Immune Compromised Host service.

In 2021, CMRI relocated to a state-of-the-art nine-story facility spanning 375,000 square feet, emphasizing a translational research approach where clinicians and researchers collaborate to expedite discoveries that enhance patient care.
