Position Overview

Our organization is currently seeking a full-time Board Certified/Eligible Metabolic Geneticist to join the Department of Pediatrics. This role includes a faculty appointment at the School of Medicine, aligned with the candidate's training and experience.

This is a fantastic chance for both newly trained and seasoned clinician-educators who have a keen interest in various aspects of clinical genetics, particularly metabolic genetics. Key responsibilities will encompass:

  • Providing patient care
  • Conducting inpatient consultations
  • Managing outpatient genetic clinics
  • Collaborating in multidisciplinary team environments
  • Educating medical students and residents
  • Engaging in research activities

Protected time for research is available, and a focus on research is highly encouraged. There are numerous opportunities for both intramural and extramural collaboration as well as program development. The clinical genetics practice offers a remarkable diversity, providing extensive experience in areas such as neurogenetics, cardiogenetics, cancer genetics, dysmorphology, and congenital anomalies. Additionally, a new inpatient facility is set to open later this year.

Laboratory and Educational Resources

Our clinical laboratory is in the process of establishing a cutting-edge genetic and genomic testing facility to deliver comprehensive diagnostic services throughout the health system, particularly benefiting the Inland Empire region.

The School of Medicine also features an accredited graduate program (MS) in genetic counseling.

Location and Facilities

Strategically situated in Southern California, our Medical Center and Children's Hospital boasts the largest Level IV NICU in the state, catering to approximately 25% of California's needs. The Children's Hospital is among the few centers in California specializing in pediatric cardiac transplants and ECMO, and it is developing a Perinatal Care Center aimed at enhancing prenatal diagnosis for high-risk pregnancies and infants with congenital anomalies diagnosed prenatally. The Medical Center and Children's Hospital also support specialized teams for cystic fibrosis, hemoglobinopathies, spina bifida, and craniofacial anomalies.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting base compensation for this position ranges from $238,000 to $278,000, adjusted according to years of experience and faculty rank. This figure does not include variable compensation or additional productivity bonuses and is subject to departmental compensation plans. Detailed discussions regarding compensation will occur during the recruitment process.
