We proudly host the first MDA Care Center established in South Carolina by the Muscular Dystrophy Association and are recognized as an ALS Association Certified Treatment Center of Excellence, as well as a member of the Northeast ALS (NEALS) consortium.
We are looking for candidates who possess:- A commitment to collaboration, innovation, and teamwork
- Specialized knowledge in nerve and muscle disorders
- Board certification or eligibility in Neurology and Neuromuscular diseases, along with EMG and/or Clinical Neurophysiology
- A passion for academia and teaching
- A position focused entirely on outpatient care, with inpatient responsibilities managed by Neurohospitalists
- Robust interdisciplinary specialty support
- Engagement in the education of medical students, neurology residents, and neurophysiology fellows
- Participation in neuromuscular clinical trial research programs, with numerous collaborative opportunities across the university and access to mentorship from senior investigators and principal investigators
- Involvement with the Ralph H Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center for up to 3/8ths of the position
- 10-20% of unassigned time
- Minimal on-call duties, requiring only 1-2 nights per month
- Full support for special interests
- A collaborative team consisting of 2 Faculty members, 1 Advanced Practice Provider, comprehensive administrative support, EMG lab technicians, and nursing staff
- Access to advanced diagnostics, multidisciplinary planning, and a wide range of medical and innovative therapies
- State-of-the-art facilities specifically designed to meet the needs of neuromuscular patients
- Multiple exceptional interdisciplinary clinics providing advanced diagnostic testing, rehabilitation services, post-clinic care coordination, and social services, including an MDA Care Center, an ALS Association Certified Treatment Center of Excellence, and membership in the Northeast ALS (NEALS) consortium
- A tenure track faculty position with academic rank and a salary that reflects qualifications, expertise, and achievements
