We are in search of a passionate and proactive physician leader to take on the role of Associate Program Director (APD) for a newly established Emergency Medicine Residency Program. This is a remarkable chance to contribute to the creation and development of a residency program within a rapidly growing academic health system and a newly formed osteopathic medical school.
About the OpportunityOur organization is transforming into a regional academic medical center, expanding its array of ACGME-accredited residency programs alongside the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine. The introduction of an Emergency Medicine residency is a significant addition to our evolving graduate medical education framework, aligning with our mission to address community and regional workforce demands. The Associate Program Director will collaborate closely with the Program Director to facilitate the establishment, execution, and ongoing success of the residency program, while also contributing to the broader academic objectives of the institution.

Position OverviewAssist in the development, ACGME accreditation, and implementation of the new Emergency Medicine Residency Program
Help establish a program focused on clinical excellence, innovation, and community-oriented care
Provide leadership in curriculum design, resident education, and program assessment
Act as a key educator and mentor for residents and medical students
Administrative and clinical duties will be organized to support both program development and clinical practice.
Assist the Program Director in preparing and submitting ACGME accreditation documentation
Engage in curriculum design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement
Supervise, instruct, and mentor residents in both clinical and educational environments
Contribute to the evaluation, feedback, and milestone assessment of residents
Support the recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for residents
Ensure adherence to ACGME and institutional regulations
Participate in scholarly activities, quality improvement initiatives, and program innovation
MD or DO degree with eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in Maryland
Board certification in Emergency Medicine by ABEM or AOBEM
Proven dedication to medical education and resident instruction
Preferred prior experience in graduate medical education (core faculty, assistant/associate program director, or similar role)
Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational abilities
Interest in curriculum development, mentorship, and academic medicine
