Job Description

Job Description

Our organization is a collective of health service entities dedicated to enhancing the well-being of the communities we serve by establishing and sustaining a comprehensive and affordable healthcare system. As a not-for-profit entity situated in the Southern Tier of Upstate New York, we operate Primary and Specialty Care offices across various locations in Broome, Chenango, Delaware, and Tioga counties.

We are currently seeking a Fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Hand surgery to join our expanding UHS Orthopedics team. This role presents an excellent opportunity for growth and succession planning. Our practice benefits from a robust regional referral network and a well-established primary care team that supports our specialists. The current team includes three joint surgeons focusing on knee, hip, and shoulder procedures, a hand surgeon, two sports medicine surgeons, a fellowship-trained trauma surgeon, two non-operative sports medicine physicians, and two physiatrists. UHS Orthopedics actively encourages the integration of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to enhance patient care and is backed by exceptional clinical and administrative support staff to optimize daily operations. Our practice is housed in a modern, state-of-the-art facility that includes a large Physical Therapy department, as well as Podiatry, Chiropractic, and Rheumatology services, promoting a multidisciplinary approach to patient treatment.

There are also opportunities to teach residents and medical students from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, engage in the education of the UHS sports medicine fellow, and participate in clinical research. We offer a competitive starting salary ranging from $650,000 to $800,000, along with excellent benefits, a sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, malpractice insurance, and a comprehensive array of employment perks, including a strong retirement plan.

Established in 1981 through the merger of three community hospitals, our organization employs over 6,000 individuals. As a teaching hospital affiliated with SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse and the Binghamton University Health Sciences Center, we train more than 75 physicians annually in residency and fellowship programs.

As a community-oriented system, our guiding values reflect the culture of the communities we serve and their expectations from our healthcare services. These values impose unique responsibilities on everyone associated with our organization.
