Maternal-Fetal Medicine Physician Opportunity
Job Description
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
We are a nonprofit, integrated medical group comprising over 450 healthcare providers across more than 25 medical and surgical specialties, dedicated to serving the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. We are currently looking for a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) physician to become part of our collaborative and mission-oriented team at Valleywise Health Medical Center (VHMC).
This role emphasizes a consultation-focused MFM practice, offering a distinctive chance to provide specialized, high-level care without the responsibilities of delivery. Physicians in this position will concentrate on high-risk obstetric consultations, advanced ultrasound techniques, prenatal diagnostics, and multidisciplinary care. The practice is designed to promote both clinical excellence and a sustainable work-life balance.
VHMC acts as the safety-net hospital for Maricopa County, catering to a diverse and medically intricate patient population. MFM physicians will engage with patients in both clinic and hospital environments and will share home call responsibilities for VHMC and the Arizona Perinatal Program. The clinical program encompasses comprehensive high-risk obstetric services, including ultrasound, diagnostic testing, genetic counseling, and diabetes education, enabling physicians to operate at the full spectrum of consultative maternal-fetal medicine.
This position provides significant opportunities for teaching, mentoring, and influencing the next generation of physicians through academic involvement and leadership roles. Our MFM physicians serve as core faculty for the integrated OB/GYN Residency and MFM Fellowship programs affiliated with Creighton University, hosted at VHMC and St. Joseph’s Hospital/Dignity Health. The program accommodates 32 residents and one MFM fellow annually, fostering a vibrant and dynamic educational atmosphere.
The practice is further enhanced by academic partnerships with Creighton University, the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, and Arizona State University, offering opportunities for academic appointments and teaching medical students from these institutions. Physicians are encouraged to participate in clinical research, quality improvement projects, and scholarly activities, with numerous opportunities in areas such as healthcare disparities, refugee women’s health, and federally funded research initiatives.
In addition to clinical and academic experiences, we provide an exceptional work culture rooted in collegiality, collaboration, and a shared dedication to serving underserved communities. This practice supports physicians in their professional development while engaging in meaningful work that enhances maternal and fetal health outcomes.
Living in Phoenix offers an outstanding quality of life, featuring over 300 days of sunshine annually, a vibrant cultural and dining scene, and easy access to outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and weekend getaways to stunning locations like Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Phoenix combines the conveniences of a major city with a welcoming and livable atmosphere, making it an ideal place to establish both a career and a home.
