Overview: Our organization is on the lookout for a per diem child psychiatrist who is either board-certified or board-eligible to become part of our expanding behavioral health team. This unique and fulfilling position is situated within our Crisis Stabilization/EMPATH Unit, a dynamic 12-bed program dedicated to delivering immediate and compassionate psychiatric care to individuals in crisis.
About the EmPATH Unit: This specialized unit offers a tranquil environment within a hospital setting, focusing on swift mental health assessments and treatments for those facing crises. Unlike conventional emergency rooms, it emphasizes a calming atmosphere that alleviates anxiety and fosters healing.
Opportunity: This role presents a significant chance to assist a diverse and underserved community in the Inland Empire area. You will work in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary setting at one of Southern California’s premier academic medical centers, which is also a Level I Trauma Center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct psychiatric care to patients within the Crisis Stabilization/EMPATH Unit.
- Engage in collaborative care alongside Emergency Department teams, medical and surgical specialists, and social services.
- Provide consultation-liaison psychiatry as required, including floor consultations.
- Supervise and educate psychiatry residents, medical students, and other trainees.
- Work with a team of nurse practitioners, social workers, case managers, and peer support specialists to ensure smooth transitions of care.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, innovation, and the establishment of best practices in emergency psychiatric care.
- There is also the potential for a Medical Directorship role, depending on your experience and interests. This leadership position would involve overseeing clinical operations of the unit, supporting quality improvement efforts, and influencing the development of emergent psychiatric services.

Compensation & Benefits:
The starting base compensation for this position ranges from $190 to $195 per hour, adjusted based on years of experience and faculty rank. This figure does not include variable compensation or additional productivity incentives and is subject to the specific compensation plans of the department.
