Position Overview

The faculty member will engage actively in clinical, research, and academic services within the Division of Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology, part of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Clinical duties will involve providing patient care at both the UW Hospital and Clinics and Meriter UnityPoint Hospital. This role requires the physician to manage a variety of intricate gynecologic conditions through both office-based and surgical interventions. Proficiency in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery is essential for the ideal candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in a multi-disciplinary pelvic pain clinic.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a program for office-based procedures.
  • Collaborate with UW colleagues in the academic specialist division to enhance surgical skills by assisting and instructing during advanced benign gynecologic surgeries.
  • Engage fully in on-call duties for the benign gynecology service.
Research and Educational Engagement

The ideal candidate should exhibit a strong interest in clinical and/or educational research, with expectations to initiate and engage in various research projects and studies, including quality and outcome programs. Teaching responsibilities will include instructing medical students, residents, and fellows. The successful applicant will also participate in administrative tasks and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly objectives of the organization.

Academic Duties
  • Oversee and participate in surgical training programs for medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Facilitate advanced surgical training opportunities for faculty members.
  • Contribute to the simulation lab, focusing on developing advanced skills and metrics for residents.
