Job Responsibilities

The role involves delivering direct patient care within the Primary Care department. You will also provide clinical support to Physician Assistants and other team members as needed.

Engagement in interdisciplinary team efforts is essential to ensure the highest quality of patient care is either maintained or enhanced. You will contribute to the ongoing improvement of service delivery, which may involve participating in various initiatives within the facility. Regular evaluations of patients will be conducted to monitor any changes in their physical and mental health, with progress notes documented in their medical records.

Coordination with healthcare providers both within and outside your Service Line, as well as with other divisions in the organization and CBOC Clinics, is a critical aspect of this position, based on the veteran's care plan. Maintaining open, clear, and collaborative communication is vital. You will be responsible for minimizing barriers for both Veterans and staff to foster a positive work atmosphere. Building strong relationships with colleagues, peers, and Veterans is encouraged. You will perform patient assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and provide medical care as necessary. All staff in Primary Care must hold the appropriate credentials and privileges.

Participation in various hospital committees, departmental training programs, and educational initiatives is expected. You will also engage in continuous quality improvement efforts through peer reviews and FPPE/OPPE processes. Active involvement in compliance readiness activities, as requested by the Chief of Primary Care, Quality Management, and the Chief of Staff, is required. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Your responsibilities will also include taking part in quality assurance programs, conducting chart reviews, and ensuring medical records are completed in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws and Regulations.

As part of your corporate citizenship, you will serve as a leader or active member on Medical Center committees when requested and attend Medical Service Staff meetings and those of the Medical/Dental staff.

You will effectively teach and provide guidance to others involved in Primary Care-related educational programs.

Maintaining Basic Life Support certification and completing all mandatory training by the specified deadlines is essential.

Work Schedule: The work hours are Monday through Friday with variable shifts; specific details will be discussed during the interview, particularly regarding any executive orders or short-term assignments.
