Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group
Victorville, CA, US Full Time

Job Description

Job Description

Our organization is actively looking for a fellow specializing in Advanced Head & Neck Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction within the Department of Otolaryngology. This one-year surgical program offers extensive exposure, although candidates may also consider a two-year commitment based on their future goals and research interests. Participation in mission electives is highly encouraged.

Currently, our team consists of eight full-time fellowship-trained Head & Neck surgical oncologists, five of whom are skilled in microvascular reconstruction. Additionally, two oncologic surgeons are based at our affiliated VA facility. The fellow will benefit from the expertise of two endoscopic skull base surgeons, three facial plastic/reconstructive surgeons, and three laryngologists, enhancing their learning experience. The fellow will engage in advanced cases, including major head and neck ablative surgeries, microvascular reconstructions, TOLMS/TORS, endoscopic skull base procedures, open/craniofacial surgeries, advanced trauma cases, and complex skin cancer reconstructions. A balanced experience in both ablative and reconstructive surgery is essential, with the fellow's preferences influencing the specific case mix. The fellowship also encompasses participation in thyroid and parathyroid surgeries, including minimally invasive approaches, re-operative procedures, and surgeries for non-localizing diseases.

The fellow will collaborate with faculty at our institution, assisting in various cases. They will have the autonomy to select their cases with minimal oversight from mentors, ensuring a fellow-directed and well-rounded experience. Intraoperative teaching of residents and some research involvement are expected. If desired, the fellow may also assist at the VA or county hospital for specific cases.

This surgical fellowship does not include call or clinic responsibilities, focusing solely on operative experience. A California Medical License is a prerequisite.
