Become a part of our team at the Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Livermore, CA, as a Physician specializing in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation!
The PM&R Staff Physician will oversee and deliver medical and rehabilitative services in both outpatient settings and inpatient Polytrauma programs, which include the Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center (PRC), Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center (CRC), and the Polytrauma Transitional Rehabilitation Program (PTRP) at the VA Palo Alto Health Care facility.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver medical and rehabilitation services to veterans and active-duty personnel through clinical assessments and treatments within inpatient Polytrauma programs.
Coordinate medical care and rehabilitation efforts for veterans and active-duty personnel within the Polytrauma System of Care, primarily focusing on the PRC, CRC, and PTRP, while also providing outpatient PM&R clinic coverage as necessary.
Ensure that treatment plans for patients are clinically appropriate, facilitating timely transitions to other care levels and documenting any contraindications and precautions.
Supervise and mentor PM&R residents in clinical practices related to PM&R and Polytrauma.
Conduct daily rounds with PM&R residents, nursing staff, and other interdisciplinary team members, maintaining effective communication and collaboration.
Work alongside other services to guarantee timely consultations and coordinated care.
Identify training and educational needs for the clinical staff and provide necessary education and training.
Assist in processing patient referrals into inpatient Polytrauma programs within 48 hours of receipt.
Engage in telehealth services between PRC/CRC/PTRP and relevant military treatment facilities or other referral sources as required.
Facilitate continuous 24/7 rehabilitation physician coverage in the clinic.
Ensure that care delivery adheres to the "Organization Code of Ethics" for the VA.
Participate in performance improvement initiatives for PM&R, WBRC, and PSC/PNS, including TJC and GARF recertification.
Exhibit the necessary knowledge and skills in assessing, treating, evaluating, and continuing care for various age groups, considering their physical, psychological, social, cognitive, pharmacological, and nutritional needs based on established developmental principles.
Salary Range: Expected between $240,000 and $270,000 (negotiable based on qualifications, credentials, and experience).
Compensation: Competitive salary, annual performance bonuses, and regular salary increases.
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid leave annually, including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and potentially 5 days for CME.
Retirement Benefits: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and a federal 401K with contributions up to 5% from the organization.
Insurance Coverage: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance (many plans can be carried into retirement).
Licensure: Must hold one full and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.
Continuing Medical Education: Potential reimbursement of up to $1,000 per year (must be full-time and board-certified).
Malpractice Coverage: Liability protection with tail coverage included.
Contractual Terms: No Physician Employment Contract and minimal restrictions on moonlighting.
