Location: Positions are available in Dover, Milford, Smyrna, and Milton, Delaware.

Status: Full-Time, 80 Hours

Shift: Variable

General Overview:

Emergency physicians deliver comprehensive care to patients of all ages who arrive at the emergency department. Their main responsibilities include resuscitating or stabilizing patients and directing them to the appropriate medical departments. They work collaboratively with specialists and other emergency department staff. Emergency physicians must assess a wide range of conditions, often with limited information, and must be capable of making quick decisions to establish a preliminary diagnosis and determine the best treatment approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct immediate evaluations and manage emergency patients upon arrival.
  • Assess patients efficiently to determine their condition and maintain departmental flow.
  • Order necessary medical tests and develop treatment plans based on results.
  • Create effective patient care plans.
  • Refer patients to appropriate specialists as needed.
  • Ensure patient stability before transferring them to the relevant department for further assessment.
  • Provide discharge instructions and necessary paperwork, including prescriptions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records for patients.
  • Coordinate with various departments to guarantee patients receive required treatments.
  • Complete patient charts in EPIC within 72 hours of the patient visit.
  • Review and co-sign charts from the APC within 72 hours of receipt.
  • Submit monthly availability for scheduling within the established timeframe.
  • Keep licenses, certifications, and education up to date, including annual training.
  • Review all medical reports (laboratory and radiology) related to patients.
  • Attend staff and committee meetings unless working, on post-night or late shifts, or with an excused absence.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned within the scope of the role.

Required Education, Credentials, and Experience:

  • Education: Doctor of Medicine; completion of an Emergency Medicine Residency.
  • Credentials: Board Certified in Emergency Medicine; Physician MD; DEA Diversion Control Division; Physician - Controlled Substance Registration or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) licensure.
  • Experience: Completion of an Emergency Medicine Residency is required.
