Our organization is looking for a Site Chair for the Department of Medicine and Site Chief for the Division of Hospital Medicine.

We are part of a comprehensive health system that encompasses multiple hospitals across New York, including our facility. The Department of Medicine at our site is integrated within the Samuel Bronfman Department of Medicine, which stands as the largest academic department in our health system and the foremost department of medicine in the nation. As the Site Chair, you will oversee the clinical, educational, and research initiatives of the Department. In your role as Site Chief for the Division of Hospital Medicine, you will be tasked with the recruitment, development, mentorship, and performance management of faculty members within the Division.

The Site Chair serves as the academic leader, guiding the research and educational endeavors in alignment with the Department's mission. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the Department's reputation as a nationally recognized clinical and training program. Your responsibilities will include mentoring faculty and identifying new hires who align with the Department's and institution's objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties at our organization will encompass, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Ensure financial stability for the Department by overseeing the creation, implementation, and monitoring of financial strategies that align with institutional policies and operational priorities.

  2. Collaborate with business development and senior leadership to pinpoint opportunities for expanding Medical Specialties.

  3. Manage the development and administration of both existing and new practices, fostering a high-quality environment for employed faculty and voluntary physicians.

  4. As Site Chair for Internal Medicine, ensure the quality of care within the Medicine inpatient service, working closely with the Medical Director of the Queens Network and the Department's faculty practice.

  5. Oversee the faculty practice of medicine, focusing on process improvements, patient satisfaction, resource utilization, and enhancing the revenue cycle.

  6. Engage in the Medical Board and other relevant hospital and System Committees.

  7. Lead efforts to update and enforce hospital bylaws, including the credentialing process for Medicine physicians.

  8. Recommend faculty appointments, clinical privileges, and other employment arrangements as necessary, ensuring compliance with established medical staff protocols.

  9. Develop educational objectives in accordance with Residency Review Committee guidelines.

  10. Establish and maintain training programs that meet ABIM and Residency Review Committee standards in preparation for future site evaluations, ensuring adequate patient volumes and comprehensive training experiences.

  11. Support the professional growth of junior faculty through mentorship and exemplary leadership.

  12. Ensure the quality of care provided on the inpatient service.

  13. Advise the administration and staff on necessary equipment for routine procedures, ensuring availability and quality through annual reviews.

  14. Develop regulations pertaining to patient care requirements and safety as needed.

As the Site Chief of Hospital Medicine, your responsibilities will also include, but are not limited to:

  1. Manage the Hospital Medicine program, including recruitment, scheduling, program expansion, professional development, and mentoring.

  2. Formulate strategic plans and objectives for the Division, leading key quality initiatives such as reducing length of stay (LOS), mortality rates, and readmissions.

  3. Oversee all educational components of the Division for medical students, house staff, fellowship training, and continuing medical education, ensuring a comprehensive curriculum that includes bedside teaching and didactic sessions.

These responsibilities may be adjusted periodically by the System Chair or Chief Medical Officer based on the needs of the institution.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree from an accredited institution.

  • Valid New York Medical License.

  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Hospitalist Medicine.

  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience.

  • Dedication to our organization and the communities we serve.

  • Exceptional communication, bedside manner, and organizational abilities.

  • A strong work ethic and a commitment to a team-oriented, performance-driven health system.

  • Academic CVs are highly preferred.

Compensation ranges from $325,000 to $375,000 (excluding bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits).

Therefore, actual salaries may be closer to either end of the range, and in some cases, may fall outside the listed range.
