Now Hiring: Urgent Care Physician for Redding VA Clinic

Position Overview

  • Job Title: Physician - Urgent Care (Redding)

  • Organization: Veterans Health Administration, Northern California Health Care System

  • Location: Redding, California

  • Employment Type: Full-time, on-site at the Redding VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC)


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive urgent care services to Veterans, addressing a variety of acute health issues.

  • Conduct medical procedures, interpret diagnostic results, and work in conjunction with specialty and hospital facilities (e.g., Mather Hospital, Sacramento).

  • Uphold high standards of clinical practice, ensuring patient safety and providing compassionate care.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • MD or DO with a full, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine, with substantial experience in emergency or urgent care.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen (non-citizens may only be appointed if no qualified citizens are available).


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Ranges from $260,000 to $325,000 annually.

  • Additional compensation includes:

    • Recruitment/sign-on bonuses (authorized).

    • Annual performance bonuses and regular salary increases.

    • CME stipend of $1,000 per year for board-certified full-time staff.

  • Leave: 50-55 paid days off each year (26 annual, 13 sick, 11 federal holidays, plus CME leave).

  • Retirement: Federal pension with vesting after five years, along with 401(k) contributions.

  • Insurance: Comprehensive federal coverage including health, dental, vision, term life, and long-term care.

  • Malpractice: Liability protection with tail coverage included.


Schedule

  • Clinical hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Variable schedule aligned with full-time urgent care practice).


Loan Repayment & Incentives

  • Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) available, offering up to $200,000 over 1-5 years (eligibility must be established within four months of appointment).
