The organization is looking for a Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatobiliary in Oceanside, NY!

Our Division of Gastroenterology comprises 10 physician faculty members, specializing in areas such as general GI, advanced interventional techniques, mobility, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and hepatology. Additionally, we have full-time GI faculty at various practices across Nassau and Suffolk Counties, along with numerous voluntary GI physicians closely associated with our endoscopic services. Our hospital boasts a comprehensive array of specialized high-tech interventions (including POEMS and EUS) within a bustling endoscopy unit, and we perform complex hepatobiliary procedures. We also have an IBD center, a Mobility Center, and two new state-of-the-art outpatient ambulatory pavilions. The Division trains 8 GI fellows (6 regular and 2 advanced interventional) and collaborates closely with the Internal Medicine and General Surgery residency programs, as well as our colorectal surgeons. We maintain a strong partnership with the prestigious main NYC academic program, contributing significantly to academic publications annually. The chosen candidate will be responsible for further developing clinical services, overseeing administrative functions, and managing quality and safety performance metrics, all while helping to expand our growing Division. Eligibility for a faculty appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai will be based on qualifications and experience.

Located in Oceanside, NY, our hospital is one of eight facilities within the Mount Sinai Health System and serves as the flagship hospital for Long Island, just about 30 minutes from New York City. As an award-winning, acute care, not-for-profit teaching hospital, we are one of the largest hospitals in the region, featuring 455 beds, over 900 physicians, and a workforce of 3,500 employees. The Department of Medicine is actively expanding across various inpatient and outpatient settings, including a brand-new 60,000 square foot facility in Wantagh. We have 24/7 intensivists in two state-of-the-art ICUs with 20 beds each, a newly established 50-bay Emergency Department, and 9 new operating rooms with enhanced cardiac and neurosurgical capabilities, among other advancements.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate for this role is a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist with a minimum of five years of experience and a strong commitment to overseeing a large and growing GI service. The Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatobiliary will be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine, contingent upon qualifications. This position will be supported in accordance with ACGME recommendations, with the expectation that the selected individual will also continue to engage in clinical practice in gastroenterology.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid New York Medical License
  • Board Certification in Gastroenterology

Compensation ranges from $550,000 to $650,000 (excluding bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits).
