This role is based at a military medical facility located in Fort Benning, GA.
Fort Benning is part of the "Tri-Community" area, which includes Columbus, Georgia; Fort Benning, Georgia; and Phoenix City, Alabama. Columbus, the third-largest city in Georgia, boasts a vibrant population of around 250,000 residents. In addition to being home to one of the premier Army installations, Columbus also hosts the headquarters of several prominent companies. The beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida and the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains are just a few hours away.
As a Physician specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology, your duties will include:
- Acting as a specialist and consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology, focusing on outpatient care.
- Conducting examinations, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of OB/GYN patients.
- Demonstrating proficiency in both abdominal and trans-vaginal ultrasonography relevant to outpatient medicine.
- Utilizing and performing screening and diagnostic procedures for OB/GYN cancers, including biopsies and colposcopies.
- Providing primary preventive care and education to women visiting the clinic.
- Assessing both functional and dysfunctional issues related to the female pelvis, such as masses, pain, urinary complaints, abnormal bleeding, hormonal imbalances, and infections.
- Evaluating emergency obstetric situations and managing or referring them as necessary.
Additionally, you will:
- Perform advanced examinations and treatments for patients referred for consultation.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with medical management issues.
- Analyze laboratory and clinical data to provide appropriate treatment and follow-up care.
- Collaborate with specialists in related fields on interconnected issues.
- Admit and discharge patients as needed.
- Work in labor and delivery for infant births and handle emergencies, including on-call responsibilities.
Moreover, you will:
- Engage in the medical education program within the department, mentoring residents, interns, medical students, and other healthcare professionals in outpatient OB-GYN care.
- Deliver lectures on outpatient OB-GYN care topics when requested.
- Participate in departmental and service-specific conferences and lectures.
- Stay updated on advancements in obstetrics and gynecology through annual continuing medical education.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Applicants must possess a permanent, full, and unrestricted medical license to practice in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a US territory.
