General Overview:

The Interventional Radiologist will be responsible for diagnosing and examining disorders and diseases through various imaging techniques and procedures. This role involves delivering medical care that is appropriate for different ages and specialties, encompassing assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, recognition and prevention of adverse events, treatment, and follow-up. The position encompasses four key areas: clinical practice, education, leadership, and professional development. Collaboration with colleagues and other healthcare professionals is essential to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care, leading to optimal patient outcomes. The Interventional Radiologist will continuously monitor the quality of patient care, emphasizing excellent customer service and performance improvement to achieve positive results. Strong communication skills are vital for interactions with patients, families, caregivers, multidisciplinary team members, medical staff, and all employees. A commitment to quality and safety is paramount in the delivery of patient care, and participation in the integrated continuum of care within our organization is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Deliver radiology services based on evidence-based guidelines in a timely manner.
2. Conduct Interventional procedures and manage complications that may arise during or after these procedures.
3. Thoroughly review medical records and maintain communication with referring clinicians.
4. Perform CT and Ultrasound-guided biopsies and drainages, vascular access procedures, IVC Filter placement and retrieval, Nephrostomy and Cholecystostomy placements, as well as Angiography and embolization.
5. Execute and interpret the results of diagnostic imaging procedures.
6. Review and transmit images and data using picture archiving and communication systems.
7. Relay examination results and diagnostic information to referring physicians, patients, and their families.
8. Complete all documentation in accordance with organizational policies.
9. Maintain accurate medical records as per the standards of our Medical Staff, documenting evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, referrals, and consultations in compliance with NCQA, Joint Commission, state, and other regulatory standards. Utilize the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) effectively.
10. Engage in quality improvement initiatives, particularly in areas with a high risk of error.
11. Participate in continuing education to enhance and maintain expertise.
12. Implement protocols related to medications, resuscitation, emergencies, power failures, and infection control.
13. Act as a teleradiologist for facilities lacking on-site radiologists.
14. Comply with Medical Staff bylaws, rules, and regulations, fostering an environment that upholds professional standards.
15. Treat all customers with courtesy, dignity, and respect, considering their views, opinions, and feelings.
16. Maintain a high level of patient satisfaction and demonstrate positive interpersonal skills in all interactions.
17. Perform any additional duties as assigned within the scope of practice.

Required Education, Credentials, and Experience:
  • Education: Doctorate Degree in Radiography

  • Credentials: Physician MD

  • Experience: Relevant experience in the field

Preferred Education, Credentials, and Experience:
  • Education: Advanced education in a related field

  • Credentials: Board Certification from the American Board of Radiology

  • Experience: Additional relevant experience in the field
