Overview of the Section Chief, Hematology/Oncology Physician Position:The Section Chief, Hematology/Oncology is responsible for providing clinical, administrative, and programmatic leadership to meet the clinical, research, and educational objectives in hematology and oncology. This position reports directly to the Chief of Medicine and plays a crucial role as a clinical leader within the medical center.
Key Responsibilities:Clinical Leadership:Supervise the provision of comprehensive hematology and oncology services, encompassing both outpatient and inpatient care, infusion services, and consultative support.
Guide and mentor the Hematology/Oncology team, fostering a collaborative and innovative atmosphere.
Provide high-quality, patient-focused care with an emphasis on health maintenance, disease prevention, patient education, and management of hematologic and oncologic conditions.
Encourage shared decision-making with veterans and their families to achieve the best health outcomes.
Develop and enforce policies and procedures to maintain high standards of care within the Hematology/Oncology Section.
Oversee the operational functions of the section, including staffing, budgeting, and resource management.
Engage in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and projects.
Employ various quality measurement tools to assess and enhance clinical performance and patient outcomes.
Contribute to the educational mission by mentoring residents, fellows, and medical students.
Promote and participate in research activities to advance the field of hematology and oncology.
Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to create personalized treatment plans for veterans.
Ensure coordinated care involving specialty services for comprehensive healthcare delivery.
Utilize the electronic medical record system for documentation, test ordering, and communication with patients and team members.

Receive a competitive salary ranging from $325,000 to $365,000 annually, ensuring your financial well-being.
