Job Description
Our organization is in search of an outstanding physician leader to take on the role of Division Chief for the Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This senior leadership position is pivotal in enhancing the strategic, clinical, educational, and research objectives of the Division, which comprises a team of full-time faculty physicians, advanced practice providers, and researchers. The Division includes specialized sections such as Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, and Generalist/Hospitalist hybrid physicians. Clinical services are provided at the Anschutz Medical Campus and throughout the greater Denver Metro area. The Division Chief will promote excellence in patient care, pioneering research, and high-quality education and training programs.
This role calls for a dynamic and dedicated physician leader who is eager to oversee a comprehensive range of individual scholarship, collaborative academic leadership, clinical and research program development, educational excellence, successful faculty recruitment and retention, community engagement, and the creation and execution of effective, high-quality programs within complex organizations.
The chosen candidate must hold a full-time faculty position in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at either the Associate Professor or Professor level. In this faculty role, the individual will deliver clinical care in both obstetrics and gynecology, encompassing inpatient and outpatient services as well as surgical procedures as part of the University OB Practice. While the position primarily focuses on clinical responsibilities, there is also an active role in teaching medical students and residents.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide visionary and innovative leadership to guide the division into its next phase of growth and development, collaborating closely with the Division Administrator.
- Recruit, hire, and retain exceptional faculty members.
- Foster an environment of respect, professional support, and development for all stakeholders.
- Manage faculty HR/PRISM processes in partnership with the Division Administrator.
- Promote a culture that values all employees and contributes to a positive, collaborative atmosphere that supports the organization’s success.
- Ensure strategic investment in research, educational, and clinical activities for the division.
- Advocate for women's health and reproductive rights by enhancing access to comprehensive healthcare services, ensuring all women receive the necessary support and resources.
- Provide vision and leadership to achieve high-quality clinical programs within the division and related fields.
- Collaborate with other leaders to build and enhance areas of recognized clinical excellence.
- Deliver outstanding clinical education and advanced training to medical students, residents, and fellows, overseeing residency and fellowship programs to ensure comprehensive training and development opportunities.
- Work with the Division Administrator to ensure the financial performance of the Division.
- Participate in the rotational schedules for obstetric and gynecologic call pools, clinics during the week, and other clinical activities as required.
- Engage in the Division's educational role for interns, residents, fellows, and colleagues as needed.
- Identify and collaborate on the development of clinical programs or locations for strategic growth.
- Build relationships with faculty and enhance morale across the Division.
- Retain Division faculty and establish a pathway for the promotion of junior faculty.
- Develop strong partnerships with multiple stakeholders and health partners.
This position is expected to be performed onsite in Aurora, CO.
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Associate Professor:- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Obstetrics & Gynecology residency program.
- Board-certified OBGYN with a Colorado Medical License.
- 5-7 years of clinical OBGYN experience.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Meets criteria for Associate Professor at the School of Medicine.
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Obstetrics & Gynecology residency program.
- Board-certified OBGYN with a Colorado Medical License.
- Ten (10) years of clinical OBGYN experience.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- 5-7 years of leadership experience in clinical operations.
- Experience as a clinical educator.
- Meets criteria for Professor at the School of Medicine.
- 5-7 years of post-residency or fellowship training.
- Experience as a clinical educator.
- Fifteen (15) years of experience in an academic medical center.
- Evidence of scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications, involvement in clinical trials, or contributions to translational research.
- Experience in strategic planning, quality improvement, and operational or financial oversight within a clinical division or multidisciplinary program.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of equity, access, engagement, mentorship, and professional development.
- Strong record of teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, with evidence of curriculum development or program leadership (preferred).
- Commitment to trainee development, faculty career progression, and building academic pipelines.
- Proven experience in leading faculty, managing teams, or directing clinical programs, service lines, or research initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Exemplary professionalism, communication skills, and capacity to represent the division within departmental and institutional leadership structures.
