Our organization operates a three-campus tertiary care medical facility affiliated with a prominent medical school and offers a comprehensive array of patient care services, alongside nationally recognized educational and research initiatives. We host one of the largest research programs within the VA, focusing on epidemiology, clinical trials, and health services research. The General Internal Medicine section maintains a strong partnership with the Center for Healthcare Organization and Implementation Research, a VA Health Services Research & Development Center of Innovation. Additionally, we are home to a leading research center that provides national guidance for a significant genomic medicine initiative.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Heart Failure (HF) Cardiologist to join our Cardiology Section. Ideal candidates will exhibit strong leadership qualities and a dedication to patient care, education of trainees, and development of faculty. This role will oversee all clinical activities related to the HF Program, report directly to the Chief of the Cardiology Section, and primarily be based at our West Roxbury campus. The work schedule for this position is 32 hours per week, from Monday to Friday.
The selected candidate will engage in heart failure management at our facility, with a focus on advanced heart failure and the new Mechanical Support and Heart Transplant Program, collaborating closely with the Cardiovascular Division at a renowned hospital. Responsibilities will include clinical duties in cardiology and heart failure at our organization, as well as heart failure and transplant services at the partner hospital. These duties encompass inpatient cardiology, advanced heart failure management, mechanical circulatory support, heart transplant services, outpatient continuity care clinics, and some on-call duties. The role also involves teaching and mentoring internal medicine residents, Cardiovascular Disease Fellows, and subspecialty Fellows in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.
An academic appointment at a prestigious medical school as Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor will be available based on experience and achievements.
Requirements for this position include:
- U.S. citizenship and an active, unrestricted medical license in any state
- Board certification or eligibility in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology
- Training and experience in a high-volume mechanical circulatory support and heart transplant center
