Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Tool & Die Maker with a strong background in the automotive manufacturing industry to join our team. This role is responsible for building, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining precision tooling, dies, fixtures, and molds used in high-volume production environments. The ideal candidate will have a valid Journeyman Tool & Die Maker license/certification, exceptional problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience supporting automotive production operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain progressive, transfer, and stamping dies, fixtures, jigs, and tooling used in automotive manufacturing.
  • Diagnose tooling failures and perform root cause analysis to minimize downtime and improve production efficiency.
  • Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications to fabricate and modify tooling components.
  • Operate manual and CNC machining equipment including mills, grinders, lathes, EDM, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on dies, molds, and tooling to ensure optimal production performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to implement tooling improvements and support new program launches.
  • Fit, assemble, and test tooling components to ensure precision tolerances are met.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on tooling life, scrap reduction, and process optimization.
  • Maintain safe work practices and comply with company quality standards, including TS/IATF requirements.
Qualifications
  • Journeyman Tool & Die Maker license/certification required
  • 3+ years of Tool & Die experience in automotive manufacturing
  • Strong experience with progressive dies, transfer dies, stamping dies, molds, and fixtures
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and tooling schematics
  • Proficiency in manual machining, CNC equipment, and precision measurement tools
  • Experience troubleshooting tooling issues in a high-volume production environment
  • Welding, fabrication, and polishing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and root cause analysis techniques
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Preferred Experience
  • Experience supporting Tier 1 / Tier 2 automotive suppliers or OEM manufacturing
  • Familiarity with robotic automation, press systems, and advanced tooling systems
  • Experience with APQP / PPAP launch support is a plus
