Senior Family Law Attorney
Job Description
Location: Coconut Grove, Miami, FL (in-office)
About the Role
Miami Family Law Group is seeking a Senior Family Law Attorney to lead family law matters—divorce, custody, complex asset division, and related disputes—from strategy through resolution. This is a high-accountability role for a confident Florida litigator who will independently manage 40–50 active cases, advise clients directly, and appear in court.
What You'll Own: Client relationships from intake through settlement or trial, case strategy, negotiation, and court representation, drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and depositions, and building your own book of business as you grow.
What You'll Get: Genuine autonomy—you make strategic decisions and own outcomes, experienced partners who collaborate when you need input, not oversight, and paralegals and admin staff handling scheduling, document management, and administrative load.
We're looking for someone who is strategic, responsive, and professionally unflappable—someone who takes ownership of their cases and holds themselves to a high standard because you care, not because you're being monitored.
Responsibilities
- Manage a full caseload of family law matters from start to finish
- Advise clients on case strategy, risk, and next steps
- Draft, review, and argue pleadings, motions, and discovery
- Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and other proceedings
- Prepare for and participate in mediations and settlement negotiations
- Work closely with paralegals and support staff to keep matters progressing
- Maintain strong client communication and high service standards
- Identify legal and procedural issues early and drive cases toward resolution
Qualifications
Required:
- Active Florida Bar membership in good standing
- 7+ years of family law experience
- Strong litigation experience, including hearings and motion practice
- Ability to independently manage a family law caseload
- Excellent written, verbal, and client communication skills
- Strong organization, follow-through, and professional judgment
Preferred:
- Experience handling complex or high-conflict family law matters
- Strong mediation and settlement skills
- Experience mentoring junior attorneys or legal staff
Compensation & Benefits
- $150,000–$175,000 - The total compensation range, including bonus opportunities, will be based on the candidate’s years of experience.
- Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement
- PTO + CLE budget for continuing education
